Enhance Your Mental Faculties… and Maybe Your Psychic Powers Too!

The secret is the blood-brain barrier. Sounds like something out of a horror movie, but it’s really a great thing, as you will read below. But first, here’s my personal story about how my own mental faculties and psychic powers were enhanced–within about half an hour. Seriously.

Twenty years ago a friend introduced me to a form of blue-green algae called Aphanizomenon flosaquae (aka “AFA”) by giving me one single capsule of what’s called Omega Sun. Within 30 minutes my whole being responded. I felt like my vibratory frequency (yes, we all have one) had been raised about 100 notches, and my physical energy and mood had been enhanced equally. I felt indescribably happy, almost euphoric. It was also easier than I had ever experienced to “tune in” to the animals I talked to for clients, and to feel and receive other types of information psychically as well. Needless to say, I bought a bottle of Omega Sun and immediately signed up with Simplexity Health (then called Cell Tech) so that I could order more algae any time I wanted, wholesale, and share it with others as well.

So here’s why this amazing substance, especially in the form of Omega Sun, works so well in achieving this effect. And if you don’t want to read all the technical stuff, you can just skip to the last paragraph or two.

The blood-brain barrier is a protective network of blood vessels and cells that filters blood flowing to the brain, thereby shielding the central nervous system from contaminants. So it’s a good thing.

That said, this barrier can also have the effect of keeping out quite a few other things that might be beneficial to the brain, like nutrients in the form of less-than-perfect foods we all consume nowadays, to give just one example. Being the hungriest organ in the body, the brain voraciously desires the nutrients, but unfortunately the fillers or refined aspects of many foods prevent the good stuff from ever reaching it.

Enter Omega Sun.  Omega Sun is a form of blue-green algae known as Aphanizomenon flosaquae, acknowledged to be the oldest complete food on the planet. This particular form, Omega Sun, has had its cell wall removed so that its inner goodness can pass through the blood-brain barrier unimpeded.

I could go on and on about the properties and benefits of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, and how it provides just about every nutrient your body needs, in the form of a living, single-cell, raw food that is highly assimilablebut, in a nutshell:  it used to grow in many fresh water lakes on earth but now flourishes in only one remaining place in Oregon, Upper Klamath Lake, where it is fed by nothing but the sun and 35 feet of volcanic deposits on the bottom of the lake. Simplexity Health Inc., a 25+ year-old company, is dedicated to nothing more than safely harvesting and preserving this amazing food, and is responsible for making it available in several different forms.

Omega Sun is just one of Simplexity’s brainchildren, and is the one that can so easily pass the blood-brain barrier and feed your brain.

This is serious brain food, folks. Really.

So if you are feeling mentally foggy, like your head is stuffed with cotton, or you want to amp up your psychic reception, try Omega Sun. You can order it right HERE, right now. Oh, and also, it may help improve your spirits dramatically if you suffer from depression. I can’t swear to this because depression isn’t one of my monsters. (But hmmm, come to think of it, maybe that’s because I’ve been taking algae for 20 years now.) Anyway, sure is worth a try.

How to Get Health Insurance for $40 a Month . . . When you Can’t Afford, Don’t Have, or Can’t Get Health Insurance!

“You have nothing if not your health.”

I don’t know who first said that, but you know just how true that is if you’ve ever had a chronic disease or ongoing pain. Quality of life is everything . . . and unfortunately having health insurance doesn’t ensure it. Only good health does.

If you could get health insurance for $40/mo., would you get it?

Of course you would. Even if it were a stretch, just cutting out a few cups of joe from your favorite gourmet coffee shop every month would cover this amount.

If you can’t get or can’t afford health insurance, you can ensure your good health by:

  • eating healthy food,
  • getting plenty of rest, and, of course,
  • never having any stress.

That’s the supposed formula. And maybe it used to work. But in present day circumstances, especially with the toxins in the environment and food we eat, this formula doesn’t really work any more.

What can you add to this picture that will ensure the best health possible and will improve your quality of life?

Super Blue-Green Algae. For $40 bucks a month. In a convenient one-month’s supply of one-a-day Simplexity “Essentials” packets.

Why Super Blue-Green Algae and not just a multi-vitamin? Because Super Blue-Green Algae is one of the few whole foods you can get these days that is wild-crafted, just as Nature created it, and is a complete organic nutrient in a highly digestible form.

The human body does a completely different thing with food in its natural state than with something man-made, even if from organic ingredients. It does not utilize a Vitamin C capsule like it does an orange. Period. So a vitamin pill is not going to change your health or your life. Super Blue-Green Algae can. Really!

You can read all about Super Blue-Green Algae Essentials HERE,  but the fastest way to get your $40/month health insurance is by going HERE and ordering a one-month supply, in convenient daily packets, of Super Blue-Green Algae, and seeing for yourself how this miraculous, natural food enhances your quality of life. Most people report a noticeable, positive increase in energy and well-being within the first thirty days, many much sooner.

There is a 90-day money-back guarantee on all Super Blue-Green products, so you have nothing to lose. $40 a month, really, can do far more for your health and for your quality of life than having an insurance policy.

Take the 90-day challenge and ensure your health! You’re worth it!

Help for Those Winter ‘Blahs’! (Or: How to Stop Being a Couch Potato – Take Coenzyme Q10)

Alas, we've all been there .........For many people winter is the season of depression, low energy, or what some people euphemistically refer to as “the blue meanies” or “the winter blahs.” In other words, they have succumbed to the couch potato syndrome. Ugh. We’ve all been there.

Waking up to fresh snow on the ground and frigid temps again this morning, it seemed like a good day to talk about how winter takes its toll on us and one way we can offset that.

If you feel slow and sluggish this winter it may just be the season — but it may also be that your cells are running out of fuel. Add more of the right kind of fuel to feed your cells, and voila, you’ll have a bounce in your step again.

While many factors contribute to our energy level, at the cellular level our energy is determined by how well our mitochondria are working. The mitochondria are the “power houses” in our cells, and when not properly nourished can’t produce cellular energy … hence that fatigue feeling.

To be well-nourished, our mitochondria need a substance called adenosine troposphere, or ATP. ATP not only fuels the mitochondria in our cells, but is also important in numerous bodily functions, including muscle contraction and the production of protein.

To produce ATP, our bodies need Coenzyme Q10 (also known as CoQ10). When we are young, our bodies produce plenty of Coenzyme Q10, but aging, stress, and disease can all interfere with the production of this vital coenzyme. The result is low energy, which is the most common health complaint among people of all ages.

When your body stops making enough Coenzyme Q10, the result is that you feel tired. Your heart and immune health can also suffer, as Coenzyme Q10 plays a vital role in both of these bodily systems as well. Luckily, you can bolster your internal supply of this crucial coenzyme by taking it orally as a supplement. Coenzyme Q10 tends be very low in the average diet, so to get the levels necessary to boost your energy, you need to take it in a form that is dense and easily absorbed by your body.

I’ve found Simplexity Health’s Coenzyme Q10 to be one of the best on the market for two reasons:

1. It is mixed with nutrient-rich AFA blue green algae.
2. It is emulsified in organic, cold-pressed flax seed oil.

Research shows that in this form (oil-based rather than powdered), your body more readily absorbs the Coenzyme Q10, which means you get more bang for your buck. Plus, both flax seed oil and AFA blue green algae are excellent sources of essential fatty acids which are crucial not only for a healthy body, but also a healthy mind.

Clinical studies worldwide demonstrate that Coenzyme Q10 is essential for energy production at the cellular level, and that it strongly supports both heart and immune health. And, clinical studies aside, people who start taking Coenzyme Q10 for the first time are usually very pleasantly surprised at the amazing boost in energy they feel. That’s good enough for me … and my animals (they need CoQ10 too). In fact I think I’ll go take some right now.

If you want heart and immune health, as well as the ability to beat that awful couch potato feeling, I’ve got two words for you: COENZYME Q10!

If you want to read more about or order some Coenzyme Q10, you can do so HERE.

Can Blue-Green Algae Make an Animal Smarter?

smart poodleThis is a good question. And not to be taken lightly.

As all my animals are on some form of super blue-green algae, I may not be the best source for an opinion, but my guestimate answer is “yes,” blue-green algae can make an animal smarter.

Now “smarter” may not really be smarter per se, as in terms of I.Q. But what I’ve noticed is that my animals who are on this super food, blue-green algae, are more “with it,” more alert, easier for me to tune in to and talk with, and … more reasonable when I need to negotiate with them about something like, ahem, eating s ___ out of the cat box for instance. For lack of a better way to say it, it’s just like they can think better.

And thinking better is a really big deal. At least in my world it is, since I am an animal communicator. The better an animal can think, the better we can talk. Hence, the better we can work through all kinds of problems, be they what kind of food they would like, what kind of behaviors their person would like them to change, or how their physical pain might be ameliorated.

A case in point is the new rescue mare I brought home 10 days ago. We are now calling her Lope, short for Penelope and pronounced LOH-peh. Of course I put her on super blue-green algae immediately. And turned her in with my other three horses on her second day here, largely because I had communicated with them about her plight and because I trusted them to be gentle with her. One nearby horse friend was shocked, saying she never turned a new horse in with her herd for 30 to 90 days. But I knew all would go well, and it certainly has, largely, I feel, because my horses heard my plea. And, of course, I think that’s largely because they can think better, which is assuredly in part because they’ve been on this super powerful brain food, blue-green algae, for years. They understand everything I tell them.

But back to Lope. Obviously she had not been on anything like blue-green algae … ever, as she had been living in a wild-herd situation. But within days of her starting on it I could feel her ‘hearing’ me very well when I would tell her something. And then I began getting messages back from her as well.

For instance, Lope was extremely head shy when I first brought her home. You couldn’t even lift your hand toward her head or face without her quickly jumping away from it. She showed me she had been lassoed in order to be caught so she was scared to death of things coming toward her head. I told her this would never happen again. She got it, quickly. Now I can walk up to her and easily reach up and stroke her or catch her.

Today I started working on her body more, scratching back along her flanks. When I scratched down toward the girth area she freaked out, jumping away again and showing me that she had been girthed up way too tightly there in the past (before her broodmare herd days), AND that she was ticklish!!! What a surprise! I mean, who woulda thought?! So please, she showed me, no scratching in that area, just flat-hand massaging.

This kind of amazing dialog coming from a horse who’s just come in from virtually running wild for years as a brood mare is not the norm. But I swear it’s possible, especially if you do something like start feeding them a powerful nutrient like blue-green algae.  Granted, I’m so accustomed to the miraculous effects of this super food that I can’t even imagine doing things with my animals without it, and yet I am always amazed when I see new proof of its impact on an animal or person who has just begun eating it.

So whether you have a new rescue horse you’re trying to get to know or just want to think better yourself, do yourself and your animals a favor and try some of this amazing stuff. You can read more about it and order it HERE.

Blue-Green Algae: The Proof is in the Pudding . . I Mean, The Old Horse

"Why does everybody get SO bent out of shape about this aging thing?" asks Copper.

"Why does everybody get SO bent out of shape about the aging thing?" asks Copper.

A few days ago Copper, my 32-year-old Quarter Horse, says to me, “I have had, ahem, a little setback.”

He’s referring to a punishing kick in the chest from one of  his herd mates exactly one week ago. But true to form, even though Copper considers this a “little setback,” he hasn’t missed a meal or limped a step.

We were appalled when we found the huge lump growing on his chest like something out of Alien— complete with hoofprint stamped thereupon. It was about as big as a small watermelon and within hours was as hard as a rock.

Homeopathic, high potency Arnica to the rescue. Lots of doses for three days then tapering off. The lump stayed about the same, though softened a bit, and the heat left it. And Copper just kept chomping through his rations. And, might I add, a 32-year-old horse doesn’t have many teeth left, so chomping on anything is quite a feat. But Copper does it very well. In fact he can still eat grass hay and even graze, a true miracle at his age.

So here we are, a week later, the watermelon has turned to mush, hair is falling out, and the whole thing is about to become Mount Vesuvius and massively erupt as what may become known as the mother of all abscesses. It’s going to be a gory sight — a nasty and smelly business. But Copper seems like he could care less, and we of course are going to see him through.

I know what is going through your mind. Where is the vet? Aren’t you totally freaked out? To answer, the vet is coming in 3 days — to check the horses’ teeth, so I’ll have him check the abscess too, just to cover all bases. And no, I am not freaking out. In fact, I am thrilled.

The fact that the immune system of a 32-year-old horse has the wherewithall to form and dispose of abscess material within a week, in a normal way — by erupting,  is a phenomenon worth celebrating. Contrary to what one would think, one does not want to suppress the infection in an abscess by giving antibiotics. This just drives the energy of the infection deeper into the body, and it will show up later as more serious symptoms.

So we are celebrating as we speak. Awaiting the smelly pus and blood and gore to begin flowing out, hopefully tomorrow. We will help it along with hot compresses and will keep it open and “clean” (an oxymoron in this case) so it can do its deed and rid dear Copper’s body of the offending infection.

The moral to this story is: how and why can a horse Copper’s age be so healthy and his system so effective at clearing such a heinous injury? I have to believe it is all due to the absolutely superb nutrition he has had since he was given to me as a throwaway horse 10 years ago. During that time he has also received no vaccines (since he doesn’t ever travel or go on the show circuit — though I’m sure he could if he wanted to), and his worming is mostly handled herbally.

I’ll admit, Copper gets a LOT of superb supplements, but so do I and so do the rest of my animals. Our mainstay is the superfood blue-green algae by Simplexity, in many different forms. It is such a perfect, easily assimilable, food that it literally fills pretty much all nutritional gaps. I urge you to try it, for yourself and your old horses — and for your kids and other animals too.

So, in case you’re interested, Copper’s blue-green algae each day is:

2 Enzymes

1 Bifidus

1 Acidophilus

1 T.  APA blend

1 tsp. Simply SBGA

And on the new moon and the full moon he gets 15 Spectrabiotic to power up his gut to rid itself of offending parasites! He hardly ever requires a chemical worming.

Go Copper!!!!!

Blue-Green Algae for Hyperactive or Nervous Animals

nervous horseDo you have a dog you can’t leave without fear of coming home to a demolition derby — or who gets so worked up he literally can’t contain himself? A cat who bounces off the walls and shreds everything in sight? A horse who is so high strung he can’t even stand to be touched or groomed, much less trusted as a safe mount? Genetics can certainly play a part here, but often other things factor in as well, and taming the flame of nervousness or hyperactivity can become a very real issue. It may even be the deciding factor in whether you can keep your animal or not. And blue-green algae might just help.

There are many ways to approach this problem, conventional drugs and herbal remedies among them. And many of those can help. But sometimes they don’t. In my practice I’ve had countless such cases referred to me, often by veterinarians, when everything under the sun has been tried so talking to the animal is a last ditch effort to uncover some tidbit of useful information that might lead to a more effective answer. In most of these cases I have recommended blue-green algae, specifically Omega Sun by Simplexity, and had very good results, and here’s why.

You probably know this, but there is something in our noggins called the “blood-brain barrier” that very, very selectively allows nutrients and molecules to pass into and out of the brain. In treating nervous system conditions — like hyperactivity or anxiety, unless the drug of choice can pass through the blood-brain barrier, it is not going to help. This is why Omega Sun is so special — it is a master at passing through this barrier! But first, by way of technical information and to satisfy your curiosity, here is a rather boring definition of the blood-brain barrier, compliments of Wikipedia (you can skip this part if you want to):

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a separation of circulating blood and cerebral-spinal fluid (CSF) maintained by the choroid plexus in the central nervous system (CNS). Endothelial cells restrict the diffusion of microscopic objects (e.g. bacteria) and large or hydrophillic molecules into the CSF, while allowing the diffusion of small hydrophobic molecules (O2, hormones, CO2). Cells of the barrier actively transport metabolic products such as glucose across the barrier with specific proteins.

So. Omega Sun. As stated above, it is an absolute master at passing through the BBB because — and here’s the secret ingredient in this picture — Simplexity, the company that harvests and prepares it, has cleverly removed the cell wall for this particular product, so its near-perfect composition of nutrients can really get in there and flood the brain with just what it needs. And the brain, by the way, is the hungriest organ in the body, so it needs a LOT. Since blue-green algae is a wild-crafted, organic, single-cell food in its original form, the brain recognizes it instantly and slurps it up.

Unfortunately, many of our animals’ nervous systems — and therefore brains — have become “starved” and compromised through poor diet, stress, over-vaccinating, or chemical drugs. So, while I can’t promise you Omega Sun will be a panacea for all nervous conditions you may encounter with your animals, I can assure you it will at least supply their brain with what it needs in order to begin focusing and thinking.

I talked to a dog just today who is so dang smart it makes you shudder, but he’s so full of anxiety, and his mental focus is so erratic and jumpy, that he can’t begin to live up to his potential (and he has done thousands of dollars worth of damage to himself and his home during his anxiety attacks). He’s on drugs, of course, but the vets have thrown up their hands. Calling me was a last resort, as is often the case. Omega Sun to the rescue — his lovely lady had it ordered within the hour, along with some flower essences for his emotional state and a few other steps she will take that might prove helpful. My fingers are crossed for this boy.

Seriously, before you write off these most difficult of all cases, please do yourself and your animal a favor and try Omega Sun for a few weeks. And talk to them. They always need to understand what’s going on. Good luck!

Healthy Horse Goo From My Friend, The Zen Cowgirl

WEEKEND BLOGS ARE DEVOTED TO HEALTH AND HEALING, FOR BOTH OURSELVES AND OUR ANIMALS. THIS ONE WAS WRITTEN BY MY GOOD FRIEND STEPHANIE — THE ZEN COWGIRL — WHO HAS NEVER MET A HORSE SHE COULDN’T WRANGLE, AND WHO HAS REHABILITATED QUITE A FEW, INCLUDING BUNCHES OF MUSTANGS IN POOR HEALTH. GO STEPHANIE!

A rather typical type of cavorting for our friend, Stephanie. She does lots of things most of us would never consider.

A rather typical type of cavorting for our friend, Stephanie. She does lots of things most of us would never consider.

There’s nothing this zen cowgirl likes better than mixing up home remedies at the kitchen table, especially when it comes to my horses. At the same time, though, I’m a busy gal and my holistic horse health care is usually centered around nutrition that “covers all the bases.” This is especially true if I’m going to be out of town and need someone else to do my chores for me. I find my neighbors get less and less willing to do my horse chores if I make it too difficult for them. Hence, I’ve created a nutritional “goo” that works for just about any horse.

"Horse Goo"

"Horse Goo"

Horse Health Care = Good Nutrition
One of the “shortcuts” I’ve found for keeping my variety of horses healthy (and I have a bunch) is to mix up a nutritional “goo” at the kitchen table. This goo is made of whole food supplements that have proven to build horse health while remaining inexpensive. I calculate that it costs about $30-$40 per month to feed, per horse … not bad when you consider the benefits, which I’ll define in a moment.

But first, what is this strange goo … or is it a strange brew? I have to warn you that this goo does not look appetizing (see the picture in this post) but smells great, and the horses love the taste. I mix:

– 1 bottle XanGo mangosteen juice (750 ml)
– 7 packets Simplexity Essentials (each packet has 1 each acidophilus, bifidus, alpha sun enzyme, omega sun enzyme, and 2 enzymes)

To mix the goo is simple:

1. Drop the capsules from the 7 packets of Essentials into some spring water, enough to cover all the capsules (do not use chlorinated water as this will kill the nutrition in the capsules). I put it all in a large Mason jar to make the next step easier.

2. Allow the capsules to melt. When melted, shake the mixture thoroughly.

3. Add 1 bottle of XanGo mangosteen juice.

4. Store in the refrigerator. Shake before feeding. Add 15-30 ml of this mixture to your horse’s feed, or syringe into the mouth. Give extra at horse shows, when trailering your horse, or when your horse is working hard.

The Horse Health Benefits of This “Strange Brew” Goo
As strange as this goo ends up looking (kind of brown and soupy), the horses love it and the results are quite impressive. Over the years, I have found that this nutritional mixture to have the following effects:

  • provides antioxidant protection when a horse is working hard (because of the algae and mangosteen, both of which are antioxidants)
  • builds healthy gut bacteria (thanks to the acidophilus and bifidus) and decreases the incidence of colic
  • improves digestion for horses that are “hard keepers” (thanks to the enzymes, acidophilis, and bifidus)
  • supports healthy skin, along with promoting mane, tail, and hoof growth (since the probiotics promote biotin production)
  • reduces the reaction to fly bites and other skin irritations
  • increases stamina and daily energy during heavy work (thanks to the algae)

I adjust my horses’ diets accordingly during the different seasons and depending on working conditions, but this “goo” forms the base of my horses’ holistic nutritional program. I feel the cost is inexpensive compared to the cost of dealing with illness, colic, inflammation, and low energy. The best testimonial for this goo, though, is the fact that my horses are progressively healthier, happier, and more competitive than when I brought them home.

Cheap Ways to Get Healthy in Tough Times

MY WEEKEND BLOGS ARE DEVOTED TO HEALTH AND HEALTHY LIVING. I LOVE THIS ONE, WRITTEN MY MY ALGAE UPLINE AND MENTOR OF THE LAST 20 YEARS, CHINESE MEDICINE DOCTOR AND ACUPUNCTURIST, ALAN JOEL. SO SIMPLE. AND SO TIMELY. THANK YOU ALAN!

healthy livingI generally hate commercials but I gotta say that I love the Allstate commercial where the guy extols the virtues of staying home and playing Jenga. I know, tough times are by definition tough, and yet I’m seeing some amazing things happen in people’s lives as a result of these tough times. Yes, some people are experiencing some serious setbacks and financial woes, but other people are using the current situation to make some truly beneficial changes in their lives.

Surprisingly enough, a lot of people are using this opportunity to get healthy!

How Do You Get Healthy in Tough Economic Times?
When people think of the word “healthy,” many think of spending money. You might have to spend money on supplements, a gym membership, or diet foods. That’s not going to work in an age where the jobless rate keeps creeping up. Instead, people are finding all kinds of ways to get healthy for cheap. Here are two fabulous examples to inspire you to think of ways you can get healthy without spending the big bucks!

Example #1: The Substitution Diet
One woman came to me for nutritional counseling and found herself in quite the bind. She was overweight and wanted to lose weight, but could not seem to do it by herself. She considered joining either a women’s gym or a diet program (like Jenny Craig), but when she looked into both options she found the monthly fees too steep for her budget. So she asked me for help.

I’m a big believer in small changes that make a big difference. I asked her to keep a food diary for a week, which meant she listed everything she ate for a week. Surprisingly, even though she was overweight she didn’t eat as much as one would expect. However, the content of her diet was pretty poor and included a lot of processed foods and refined carbohydrates. She also ate a lot of pre-packaged food with low nutritional content. I asked her if she would be willing to do a little more cooking and give up 50% of her sugary snacks. She agreed.

We replaced 35% of her pre-packaged food with meals she cooked herself, and she bought 50% less cakes and cookies. With the money left over (about $50 per month), we started her on a low-cost but high-quality nutritional supplement, Essentials from Simplexity Health. The Essentials contained blue-green algae to give her energy and increase her metabolism, plus acidophilus, bifidus, and enzymes, which improved her digestion. The results are in and she has lost 11 pounds and feels better than she has in years. She doesn’t like to cook but her weight loss keeps her going. I give her kudos for persistence, frugality, and healthy living!

Example #2: Yard Man Extraordinaire
One of my buddies works an office job in a big city and he used to pay people to do his yard work  (and believe me, he has a beautifully-landscaped yard). While his job isn’t in limbo, he’s decided to cut back on expenditures to save extra money for future contingencies. One of the expenses he cut was the money he was paying to the yard man. The other was his twice-a-month visit to his anti-stress counselor (he finds working in the city very stressful).

You can probably see where this is going. It turns out that doing yard work is the perfect intersection of saving money and stress relief for my friend, not to mention being a great physical workout. Not only has he gotten a handle on all the basic yard maintenance, like weed-pulling and lawn-mowing, but he’s even starting to build an amazing serpentine rock wall that literally has people stopping in his driveway to ask if he does rock-work for hire! Now that’s got to fluff his aura and boost his pride. In any case, should he ever find himself out of work, he can now always fall back on a second career in rock work!

Inspired yet?

I hope so. I’m so inspired that I’ve started tackling a ramshackle falling-down building on our property. The physical exercise is great and I’m saving megabucks by not paying day laborers to do the work for me.

What’s the Big Deal About Blue-Green Algae? (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, that is…)

I promise to keep this short. And will try to be not-boring.

The down and dirty version of why the superfood blue-green algae Aphanizomenon flos-aquae is good for you and your animals, in 25 words or less, is (and I promise not to use that Latin term again):

This is what blue-green algae looks like in the water.

This is what blue-green algae looks like in the water.

1. Blue-green algae is a raw, micro-nutrient-rich superfood.

2. Your body LOVES real food, as opposed to supplements, and utilizes it 10 times better.

There. That’s 25 words.

The part about “10

And this is what it looks like dried. I know ... BORing!

And this is what it looks like dried. I know ... BORing!

times better” is mine and mine alone, but is based on statistical and scientific evidence that the body absorbs, at most, only 12% of any man-made supplement, no matter how whole or natural its ingredients or how carefully it is made. Man-made supplements are not superfood. Period.

The reason? Your body simply does not recognize the latter because it is not programmed to. I’m not saying supplements are worthless. Quite the contrary — they’re very valuable and most of us, myself included, take them. But the bottom line is a Vitamin C tablet will never be a substitute for an orange. Period. Your body knows that and gets rid of all the “odd” substances in the tablet, utilizing only that which it recognizes — about 12% max. The orange on the other hand, or blue-green algae?  “Yum!” says your body, “This is more like it!” and slurps it all up.

But let’s get a little more detailed.

Anything you eat, plant or animal, is only as nutritious as what IT ate. That

Upper Klamath Lake

Upper Klamath Lake

means that plants grown in depleted soil — even if  “organic” — simply are not providing you with proper or complete nutritional value. Plain and simple, they cannot be a superfood even if they were meant to be. So one reason blue-green algae is such a powerful nutrient is that almost 100% of it is harvested from Upper Klamath Lake in Southern Oregon, where it thrives on nutrient-rich volcanic sediment that is 35 feet deep.

Another feature of blue-green algae that makes it so impacting is the fact that it is a single-cell food, with a non-cellulose cell wall, so is highly assimilable — this type of food is called a micronutrient. It has been proven, in fact, that our bodies are able to assimilate up to 98% of blue-green algae. Compare that to the 12% in man-made supplements and you begin to get the picture.

The Bottom Line:

Blue-green algae is an organic, all natural, single-cell, naturally occurring, micronutrient, whole superfood that contains:

  • vitamins
  • trace minerals
  • amino acids
  • active enzymes
  • protein
  • chlorophyll
  • beta carotene
  • essential fatty acids
  • phytonutrients

A pretty complete nutritional profile, wouldn’t you say?

If you have an abundant, organic garden in your backyard, with super-enriched, alive soil, then you are a lucky dog and may be getting most of the nutrients you need from your food. You are growing superfood! But if not, consider adding a little of the micronutrient, blue-green algae, to your diet every day, and to your animals’ too. You can rest easy knowing it will fill in those nutritional gaps not provided by your grocery or pet food store.

So THAT’s the big deal about blue-green algae!

Watching Your Dog Grow Old

I think this is one of, if not THE, hardest things about having animals in your life. Watching as they grow old and then going through the end-of-life vigil with them. And of course it applies to all animals, not just dogs. It is such a bittersweet and yet special time in their lives . . . and in ours. But it can be absolutely devastating too, and sometimes makes one wish our lifespans weren’t so much longer than theirs.

This is Rose, acting coy after bringing her dust bath in the house.

This is Rose, acting coy after bringing the dregs of her dust bath into the house.

Meet Rose. My sweet Rose. Rose has not been mentioned in this animal blog yet, perhaps because she is so staied and settled in her ways. She and I are like white on rice so our life together is as smooth as glass. Rose keeps a low profile and is steady as she goes, so there’s not much to report in the way of exciting day-to-day, “Rose” developments.

Rose was born at my home 12 years ago, daughter of a precious stray a friend and I rescued from the side of the road in far West Texas on a road trip to New Mexico. We called her Lady, because she was one. Except, ahem, Lady was pregnant and had probably become so in not very ladylike ways. But that wasn’t her fault. Lady accompanied us on our entire trip and then back to Texas where she delivered five Heinz 57’ers. I kept Rose, who is very Border Collie-like, and sweet as the day is long, like her mother Lady.

But Rose has always been as delicate as the flower that is her namesake. Probably because her mother was weak and malnourished while pregnant.  The slightest thing can throw Rose off physically or emotionally, causing her to become over-alarmed and hyper-reactive, or upsetting the balance of her metabolism and health. This was apparent early on when, after she was spayed and vaccinated Rose immediately lost a lot of her hair, especially around her face and neck. I knew then she had an extremely delicate constitution and that I would have to take extra pains to keep her healthy into her old age.

Rose was wheezing today, in spite of the lovely cool and dry climate where

we now live in New Mexico,

and I had one of those bittersweet moments.

She began this pattern a couple of years ago before we moved from Texas, where the extreme heat and humidity caused very acute symptoms. Fortunately, she has the advantage of never having been exposed to drugs or vaccines since her early adverse reactions, and she has always been treated for any weaknesses with homeopathics and herbs. So her immune system is strong. The homeopathic remedy Pulsatilla is like a panacea for her and kept her from collapsing during her wheezing spells in Texas, but there were a few times I thought she was at the end. Rose has had few spells here in New Mexico, and they are very mild, but today brought home the realization that she is probably in her last couple of years on this fine earth, and all the tumultuous emotions that go along with that.

The best I can do is continue to fan the flame of Rose’s ebullient, gentle spirit, give her lots of love every day, and encourage her still-playful nature by buying her fuzzy “babies” that she hordes for weeks before letting any of the other dogs near them. And I will give her every edge I can for continued good health through a super nutritious diet and supplements.

I hope I’m ready when Rose’s day comes, but right now I hope that day is far, far away in the distant future.

Besides Rose’s diet of super nutritious dog and human food, she gets an added boost of nutrition with the blue green algae I feed her every day. You can order some for your animals HERE. I encourage you to give it a try.
